Fulbright Foreign Student Scholarship Program 2025-2026

Fulbright Program is a highly esteemed worldwide exchange program subsidized by US Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Established in 1946, Fulbright works towards cultivating mutual understanding between the people of United States and that of the other nations by means of educational and cultural exchanges.

With the Fulbright USA Foreign Student Program pushing for full scholarships for students coming from Myanmar and who are interested in pursuing their Master’s Degree in the United States of America, the struggle for finances will be a thing of the past. This competitive program is set up to recognize and support students with outstanding leadership abilities and academic performance

Eligible Program

All the areas of study will be covered in Fulbright Foreign Student Scholarship Programme. Students can select from the variety of academic programs and study at the accredited universities in the USA.

Program Period

The Fulbright Foreign Student Scholarship Program typically covers the duration of a Master’s Degree program, which generally ranges from one to two years depending on the academic program and individual circumstances.

Coverage

Selected scholars under the Fulbright Foreign Student Scholarship Program receive comprehensive funding, including:

  • Tuition and related academic fees
  • Monthly stipend for room, board, and incidental expenses
  • Supplemental health and accident benefits
  • Book and equipment allowance
  • International/domestic travel allowance
  • Opportunity to attend Fulbright enrichment activities

Applicant Qualifications

To be eligible for the Fulbright scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be from Myanmar
  • Hold at least a Bachelor’s degree (applicants with advanced degrees are also eligible)
  • Demonstrate a strong academic background and a record of excellence in previous studies
  • Have a minimum TOEFL score of 575 (paper-based) or 90 (internet-based), or must take a screening test conducted by the U.S. Embassy if they do not have a TOEFL score
  • Have relevant degrees or professional experience in their proposed field of study
  • Have little or no previous experience traveling or living in the United States
  • Not have a degree from a U.S. university or be enrolled in a U.S. degree program

IMPORTANT: All grantees will be expected to return to their native countries for at least two years after the end of their grant in accordance with the J-1 visa requirements.

Application Deadline

Closing date for the US Fulbright Foreign Student scholarship for the academic year 2025-2026 is May 8th, 2024. Applicants should submit their applications early enough to avoid missing out on the stated requirements and deadlines.
