ASEAN Scholarship for Myanmar

The Ministry of Education (MOE) Singapore is mandated with designing and enforcing the education policies of Singapore. Through the management and development of government funded schools and institutes such as the Institute of Technical Education, polytechnics, and universities, it performs its duties. The Ministry of Education (MOE), being dedicated to the pursuit of a vision that will shape the destiny of the nation by developing its human resources, has a crucial role in shaping the “character fabric” of Singapore’s younger generations.
Under MOE the ASEAN scholarship for Myanmar is an initiative which allows students from Myanmar who are qualified for secondary education to study in selected Singapore secondary schools. An international goodwill and understanding are some of the ultimate objectives through which the recipients of this scholarship program develops skills such as leadership and communication.

Eligible Program

The scholarship is open to Myanmar nationals who are joining Secondary 3 in selected Singapore secondary schools.

Program Period

The scholarship is valid for four years, covering Secondary 3 to Pre-University 2, leading to the Singapore-Cambridge GCE A-Level certificate or a similar qualification.

Coverage

  • Annual allowance with hostel accommodation
  • Settling-in allowance
  • Return economy airfare
  • School fees
  • Examination fees for GCE O-Level and A-Level (once only, as applicable)
  • Subsidized medical benefits and insurance cover for accidents

Applicant Qualifications

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be born between 2 Jan 2008 to 1 Jan 2011
  • Be proficient in English
  • Have consistently performed well in school examinations
  • Have completed at least Grade 9 and studied English as a subject in Grades 9 and 10
  • Have a good record of participation in co-curricular activities

How To Apply

  • The application window typically opens in April, and interested candidates can submit their applications online.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be informed in advance to attend selection tests and interviews in Yangon.
  • Successful applicants will be notified via email, and the award of the scholarship will be confirmed.
  • Arrangements for travel to Singapore will be made, and recipients will commence their studies in November.

Application Deadline:

  • The tentative application window for 2024 is from April 1 to May 30.
